What sets apart a good flat iron out from the rest?
A good flat iron should have at least three heat settings. You want to have the option of changing the heat setting depending on your hair texture and thickness. For example, if you have fine and thin hair and you are just trying to smooth it out you will use the lowest heat setting. If you have thicker or coarser hair, you will use the higher temperature settings. I bought a flat iron once with just an on and off button, and it was a high-end professional brand. After I ran the flat iron through I touched my hair and burned my hand against my hair. Yes, like a real burn mark and all. I can’t even imagine what that would do to my hair after a year. I had a client come to me with all the hair on the front of her hairline break to 2 inches around her face. Probably by overusing the flat iron on high heat. I never had that happen to me with Sultra flat iron, and I use it every single day. If not the flat Iron then I use a curling Iron.
What's great about The Sultra Flat Iron
My favorite thing about the Sultra Seductress Flat Iron is that it automatically shuts off after a little while. So if you forgot about it don’t worry. I think I always turn it off but more times than I imagined I hear it beep, and it turns off on its own. One of my clients told me she left hers on her pillow, and it burned a hole in it. So I’m glad I always have a peace of mind regarding that. By the way, I never see the company mention that in their description of the product but it does have that feature.
What hair type is it for
It’s ideal for all hair types based on the companies description and my opinion. The Seductress has three temperature settings designed specifically for fine, normal or thick hair. Three temp settings for fine (370 °F), normal (380 °F) or thick (395 °F) hair.
Product Description
Exclusive ThermaTru™ Ceramic Technology mends the hair and provides constant, even heat for long-lasting soft curls, sexy waves, and shiny straight styles. Flexible 1-inch plates. High gloss coating prevents drag. Universal Voltage. (I used it in Europe and it worked great but got too hot, so I kept on the lowest setting. And of course I bought a wall converter so I can plug it into their outlets.) The Flat Iron automatically shuts off after a some time.
Price points
The Sultra Seductress Flat Iron can range from $148.40 – $210.00. It just all depends on the store you buy it from. The cheapest I found it right now is on Amazon, and it’s sold directly by Sultra.
Protect hair from heat damage
Using any flat iron on a high setting can cause your hair extra damage. To prevent further damage starting using a shine serum that contains a heat protector on your clean damp hair after showering. If you want to learn more on this check out my article on Healthy Shiny Hair.
Flat Iron Cleaning Tip
Your flat iron will work and look better if you keep it clean. You see build up of old product on the sides. So once in a while just use rubbing alcohol with a towel and wipe down your flat iron. This will also help for a smoother glide when flat ironing your hair.
I have tried at least five other professional brand flat iron’s, and this one is my favorite for all the things I mention above. I use it every day and use it on my clients up to 5 times a day most days and drop it almost every day. And it still works. I had mine for two years so far, and I don’t have any issues with it other than a little wear and tear due to my clumsiness.
